Telangana postal circle launches student parcel discount scheme

The Telangana Postal Circle has launched a student parcel discount scheme offering a ten percent rebate on speed post and retail parcel bookings. The scheme, effective from January 1, 2026, applies to bona fide students across all post offices in Telangana.

Hyderabad: The Telangana Postal Circle announced the launch of a student parcel discount scheme under which a ten percent discount on postage charges, exclusive of GST, will be provided on retail bookings of speed post parcels and India Post Parcels (Retail) made by bona fide students of recognised educational institutions.

S Vijaya Jyothi, assistant director (Business Development), Telangana Postal Circle, said in an official statement that the new scheme will come into effect from January 1, 2026 in all 6,259 post offices in Telangana.


The postal official said the scheme is applicable to individuals identified as bona fide students of recognised educational institutions. She said the types of consignments covered under the scheme include educational material such as books, stationery, examination papers and project submissions, and personal belongings of students.

Regarding eligibility, she said the sender must have a valid student ID issued by the institution at the time of booking. She said the scheme covers all educational institutions, including government and private schools, colleges, universities, and vocational and distance education institutions.

The official said the discount is available for booking requests made on the click-n-book portal for parcel services.
