Hyderabad: BRS working president KT Rama Rao said Telangana emerged as a national IT powerhouse during the decade-long tenure of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, citing a 299 per cent rise in IT exports and a sharp jump in employment. Citing latest 2023-24 statistics released by the Centre, he said Telangana accounted for one out of every three new IT jobs created in the country. He asserted that the State’s share in new IT employment stood at 33 per cent.

According to the Centre’s data, IT exports which were Rs 57,258 crore in 2013-14 during the then Congress regime, rose to Rs 2,72,076 crore by 2023-24 under the BRS government. Rama Rao attributed the growth to revolutionary decisions, innovative policies and new programmes introduced during the BRS tenure.

The former IT and Industries Minister stated that total IT employment in Telangana reached 10 lakh in 2023-24, marking a 209 per cent growth over the decade. He added that with every IT job generating four indirect jobs, the sector potentially created around 40 lakh additional jobs in other sectors.

Terming the growth as proof of former Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao’s vision, Rama Rao said Telangana recorded the highest growth in IT exports in the country during the ten-year period.
