Hyderabad: The School Education department on Sunday rescheduled the schools reopening for the academic year 2026-27 to June 15. Earlier, they were to reopen on June 12.
An order postponing the schools reopening was issued by School Education director Dr. E Naveen Nicolas. The department took this decision based on the multiple representations it received from various stakeholders requesting a reconsideration of the reopening date.
Since June 13 and 14 fall on the second Saturday and Sunday respectively, it has been decided that all the government and private schools will reopen on June 15 instead of June 12, Dr. Nicolas said.
However, in order to compensate for the academic time lost due to the postponement of reopening and ensure adherence to the prescribed instructional days under the academic calendar 2026-27, July 17 (second Saturday) has been announced as a working day for all schools under the department.
Dr. Nicolas directed departments, regional joint directors of school education and district educational officers to take necessary action accordingly and communicate the change in schools reopening to all schools under their jurisdiction.
