Hyderabad: The Telangana Retired Employees and Teachers Associations Joint Action Committee (JAC) has extended full support to the protest called by the Pensioners JAC on August 11, demanding that the Congress government fulfill its promises to employees and pensioners.
JAC chairman G Devi Prasad said the ruling party had assured in its manifesto that all issues of teachers, employees and pensioners would be resolved within six months of assuming power.
“It has been 20 months since the Congress came to power and not a single promise has been implemented,” he charged.
Pointing out that Telangana was the only State where five DAs (Dearness Allowance) were pending and health cards were non-functional, Devi Prasad said several retired employees had lost their lives due to lack of medical access. The Pay Revision Commission, which was due in July 2023, was yet to be implemented, and pension benefits for those retired since March 2024 were withheld.
He stated that the government appointed a Cabinet sub-committee and also an officials’ committee, only to delay financial commitments to employees, teachers and pensioners. He slammed the government for unprecedented salary delays to lakhs of outsourcing and contract staff. He warned that if issues remain unresolved by August 15, employees will be forced into a larger agitation.
