BRS holds Congress, BJP responsible for farmers’ crisis

Former MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy accused the Congress and BJP of colluding to weaken the Kaleshwaram irrigation project while neglecting farmers’ issues in Telangana. Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, he alleged that both parties have targeted the project under the guise of commission reports, yet failed to address critical problems like uneven rainfall and urea shortages.

Hyderabad: Former MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy accused the Congress and BJP of colluding to weaken the Kaleshwaram project and neglecting farmers’ problems in Telangana. He said both parties were targeting the project for the last 20 months in the name of the NDSA report and the Justice PC Ghose Commission report, while farmers continued to face severe distress.

“Rains are uneven, urea shortage persists, and despite Telangana sending eight MPs each to both parties, nothing has been done for farmers,” he charged.

Speaking at Telangana Bhavan, Venkataramana Reddy said Union Ministers G Kishan Reddy and Bandi Sanjay were shielding Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, ignoring issues such as idle motors at Kannepalli and water wastage near Medigadda. He said both the Congress and the BJP were obsessed with political attacks on the BRS, rather than addressing issues pertaining to farmers, students and unemployed youth.

He stated that the Kaleshwaram Commission report was manipulated to target BRS leaders and settle internal scores within the BJP.

“BRS remains the only protective shield for Telangana,” he asserted, stating that the Congress would suffer severe setbacks in the upcoming local polls unless it addressed the challenges faced by farmers.
