Telangana: RTC to run 3,845 buses for Medaram Jatara

This announcement was made by TSRTC MD, VC Sajjanar at a press conference held at Bus Bhavan here on Friday. He said 23 lakh passengers were expected to avail of the services of RTC buses for the Jatara this year.

Hyderabad: The Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) will operate 3,845 buses for the Medaram Jatara scheduled to be held from February 16 to 19. These buses will be operated from 51 points across the State and also from Maharashtra.

This announcement was made by TSRTC MD, VC Sajjanar at a press conference held at Bus Bhavan here on Friday. He said 23 lakh passengers were expected to avail of the services of RTC buses for the Jatara this year.

A base camp has been established on 50 acres of land in Medaram with a temporary bus station. The camp has a command control centre and all facilities including seating and food arrangements. This time, there would be 42 queue lines, he said, adding that 300 volunteers would be deployed for guiding passengers.

The TSRTC MD said people could avail the door pick up services of the RTC by calling on 040-30102829. However, bookings would be accepted provided there were 30 passengers.

So far, 523 special buses were operated with 1,250 trips and 1.20 lakh passengers were operated to Medaram Jatara, Sajjanar said and appealed to people to use the services of the TSRTC and encourage the public transport system.

All the RTC staff deployed on Medaram Jatara duties have been double vaccinated against Covid-19 and a booster dose would also be given to the staff, Sajjanar said.

He also launched ‘Medaram with the TSRTC’ app developed by students of KITS, Warangal, with help of RTC officials. The app will facilitate people to book bus tickets for Medaram besides providing information on Medaram Jatara, buses and their routes, accommodation and help desk numbers. The app can be downloaded from the TSRTC website and it will also be made available on Google Play Store.
