Hyderabad: Commencing next academic year, all students studying Classes VI to X in the government and local body schools across the State will be provided with workbooks.
The School Education department, which recently held a review meeting on the curriculum changes in the schools, took this decision of providing workbooks for upper primary and high school students.
Currently, in addition to free textbooks and notebooks, the department is extending workbooks to primary school students besides worksheets for students of all classes. This material covering subjects such as Telugu, English and Mathematics offers students structured practice after the regular classwork.
The level 1 of the workbook focuses on reviewing foundational skills from previous years, helping children who are academically weak, while the level 2 supports present academic year’s learning.
So, on similar lines, it has been decided to provide upper primary and high schools students studying in the schools that come under the department’s jurisdiction.
Accordingly, the State Council of Educational Research and Training has been tasked to prepare workbooks and make them ready for the forthcoming academic year.
“We have decided to provide workbooks for students of Classes VI to X as well. These workbooks will be for all subjects, aiding students in their learning,” Director of School Education, Dr. Naveen Nicolas said.
Further, the department has also decided to coach students who wish to appear for the common entrance test for admissions to welfare residential schools. The coaching will be offered to students of Class IV for their admission in Class V in residential schools. In addition, the department will be extending study material.
