Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Wednesday sought to strengthen its international outreach by holding high-level meetings with delegations from South Africa and Germany’s Thuringia State, resulting in agreements aimed at expanding cooperation in skill development, technology, healthcare, startups, life sciences and investments.
Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy met a South African delegation led by Deputy President Paul Mashatile and discussed opportunities in education, medical tourism, workforce development and industrial investments.
Highlighting Hyderabad’s strengths in information technology, pharmaceuticals, defence and aerospace, Revanth Reddy said the city had emerged as a major global hub for skilled talent and Global Capability Centres (GCCs). He also showcased Hyderabad’s healthcare ecosystem and invited South African industrialists and entrepreneurs to participate in the Telangana Rising Global Summit 2026, scheduled for December.
Mashatile welcomed the proposal and said he would be honoured to attend with a business delegation. He noted that South Africa could serve as a gateway for Indian companies seeking access to African markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area.
In a separate development, Telangana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the German state of Thuringia for cooperation in technology, skill training, startups and life sciences. The agreement was signed during a meeting between Revanth Reddy and Thuringia Minister-President Mario Voigt.
Voigt described Telangana as a leading centre of innovation and expressed interest in building long-term partnerships. Discussions focused on developing industry-oriented skill programmes, German language training and workforce preparation for emerging sectors shaped by artificial intelligence.
Revanth Reddy sought Thuringia’s support in strengthening curriculum development at the Young India Skills University, Advanced Technology Centres and polytechnic institutions. The German delegation also proposed exploring collaborations in semiconductors, advanced manufacturing, optics, photonics, life sciences, defence and aerospace.
Senior Ministers D Sridhar Babu, C Damodar Raja Narsimha and G Vivek Venkataswamy, along with officials from both sides, participated in the meetings.
