Telangana seeks UNESCO Heritage recognition for Ramappa temple
Ministers led a delegation of officials to discuss pending sanctions for Telangana in the Culture Ministry.

Hyderabad: As part of the State government’s efforts to secure UNESCO World Heritage Site recognition for Rudreshwara Temple (Ramappa), Tourism Minister V. Srinivas Goud, Panchayat Raj Minister E. Dayakar Rao and other officials met officers from Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Director General of Archaeological Survey of India, in New Delhi on Thursday.
The Ministers led a delegation of officials to discuss pending sanctions for Telangana in the Culture Ministry. The delegation requested expediting the restoration works at Ramappa and Thousands Pillars temple.
ASI officers were requested to take up monuments and forts’ development works in the State, besides proposals for upgradation, refurbishment and renovation of museums in Warangal and Karimnagar. The delegation also requested early disposal of shifting Golkonda sound and light show from existing location to a new panoramic view of the fort. Financial assistance of Rs.15 crores was also sought from Central Government for development of Cultural complex at Mahabubnagar.
After formation of Telangana, the Culture Ministry had agreed to extend financial assistance for renovation of Karimnagar Museum and revised DPRs were submitted accordingly. The rare antiques and artefacts from Nagarjuna Sagar Museum will be brought back and displayed in the museums.
Addressing media persons, Dayakar Rao said the rich heritage and culture of Telangana should be identified and recognised. Under the leadership of Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao, the past glory of Telangana was being retained.
“State government is striving for welfare and developmental activities, and simultaneously bring back the glory of Telangana on the world map,” Dayakar Rao said.
