Telangana skaters return with rich haul of medals

Telangana skaters delivered a dominant performance at the 63rd Senior National Roller Skating Championship in Visakhapatnam, clinching 38 medals including 19 gold, with standout displays across individual, pair and group events, officials said.

HYDERABAD: Telangana skaters put up an impressive performance in the 63rd Senior national skating championship in Visakhapatnam winning 19 gold, 10 silver and nine bronze.

The State skaters won medals across various individual, pair, couple and group events across various age groups ranging from six to eight years to below 18 years.


“The Championship ended on a high note with extraordinary individual, pair and couple events performance and beyond extraordinary and exemplary performances in the group events making Telangana Skaters stand out from the rest of the competitors,” former World champion and Arjuna Awardee Anup Kumar Yama said.

“The Senior Nationals were very challenging with skaters from various states competing with the best of their skills and talent and it was exciting to compete with them all and win the gold,” he said.

“The golden girl Advika Muthar, winner of three gold medals and one silver in the 10-12 years age group ,” Anup said. “The Skaters have undergone rigorous and intensive training throughout the year 2025 by practicing for six hours a day and the regular periodic training camps along with the exclusive State camp conducted from November 15 to 30,” he said.
