Telangana skaters win historic gold at Asian Roller Skating Championship
Telangana skaters made history by winning India’s first show group gold at the Asian Roller Skating Championship in South Korea, contributing to India’s impressive tally of nine gold, six silver, and one bronze

Hyderabad: Telangana skaters created history in the Asian roller-skating championship in Jecheon (South Korea) winning India its first-ever gold medal in the show group category (the team event with nine of the team from the State) and eventually finishing with nine gold, six silver and a bronze.
“The skaters trained rigorously since the last 2 years for this prestigious championship and after a series of selections at various grass root level competitions to the district, state, national championships and national selections did they get selected to perform at the Asian Level,” said Anup Kumar Yama, India’s only World champion gold medalist and Arjuna Awardee and who has been coaching them at Yama Skating Academy.
“They underwent rigorous training camps all over India and with indomitable grit, passion, dedication and determination and helped India top the medals table,” he said.
“It’s truly incredible and great to see the skaters of Telangana shine on the international stage and bring such honour, medals, accolades and glory for the nation at Asian level” said the Telangana Roller Skating Association inaugurated statement.
Except Makhan Saurav Singh and Kavyasri Rathikrinda, all the other Telangana skaters are from Yama Academy in the City.

Jia Jayesh Patel (seniors – show group gold).
Chalam Charla Juhit (seniors – show group gold).

Yenduru Sanchit (seniors show group gold)

Makhan Saurav Singh (seniors – roller hoop silver)
