Hyderabad: Several Telangana Social Welfare Residential Educational Institutions (TGSWREI) teachers are in a state of confusion and staring at an uncertain future as they have to face another round of transfers, disrupting their lives.

Seven months after large-scale general transfers of teachers, the TGSWREI Society on Thursday issued a memo, requiring only women staff be assigned to all girls’ institutions, enforcing a rule that had been introduced in 2016, but ignored in the general transfers.

For several teachers, the memo came as a shocker as they just settled in the new institutions after exhaustive transfers carried out last July-August.

“Why was this rule not implemented during general transfers of teachers? Now, several teachers are staring at uncertain futures, as we have to again face fresh transfers. Moreover, how can the society transfer teachers during the examination period,” a teacher questioned.

In a memo, the society directed its multi-zonal officers, zonal officers, district coordinators and principals to ensure girls’ institutions are staffed with only women in all positions. However, the boys’ institutions can be staffed with both men and women teachers, as per the rule.
