Telangana: SPDCL initiates measures to meet summer power demand
Telangana State Southern Power Distribution Company Limited (TGSPDCL) has undertaken a massive exercise to meet the increasing demand for power supply during the upcoming summer season.
On Monday, SPDCL Chairman and Managing Director Musharraf Ali Faruqui inspected the works being done as part of the summer preparatory activities. He inspected the construction of the 132 KV substation under construction at Bowrampet in Medchal limits, the tower construction works and inaugurated the additional 8 MVA power transformer installed at the 33 / 11 KV substation at Bowrampet.
The works undertaken as part of the summer preparations in Greater Hyderabad city include 35 11 kV feeders interlinking, 149 distribution transformers upgradation in Hyderabad Central Circle, 90 11 kV feeders interlinking, 14 33 KV feeders interlinking, 14 power transformers upgradation, 545 distribution transformers upgradation, 127 11 KV feeders and 4 33 KV feeders interlinking.
In the Rangareddy zone, where there is a possibility of a huge increase in electricity demand during the summer, 254 11 KV feeders and 26 33 KV feeders will be interlinked, 81 power transformers and 1252 distribution transformers will be upgraded.
In the Greater Hyderabad area, the electricity demand consumption is increasing significantly compared to the summer season of last year. The maximum demand, which was 3756 MW last year, has been recorded as 4352 MW this year with a growth of about 16 percent, while the consumption, which was 81.39 million units last year, has reached 90.68 million units with a growth of about 12 percent.
It is estimated that the demand for electricity will increase significantly in the coming summer, hence the company was taking measures to meet the demand.
