Jayashankar-Bhupalpally: Conducting the events aimed at promoting fitness and sport culture are very common in the cities like Hyderabad, and even tier two cities like Warangal and Karimnagar in the State. But, of late, this sporting culture is slowly spreading to the remotest parts of the State, thanks to fitness freaks and sports personalities. Organising such events will not only create awareness among the youngsters and others but also help the locals to generate business as a spin-off.
For the first time, a Hyderabad-based fitness group, Jagan Fitness And Running Group, in association with local MLA Gandra Venkataramana Reddy and his wife Gandra Jyothi, who is the chairperson of the Warangal Zilla Parishad, is going to organise Bhupalapally Run-2022 on March 13 at 5 am from the Ambedkar Stadium at the Krishna Colony in the Bhupalpally town.
“We are organising this event for the first time in the remote parts of the district like Bhupalpally. This is the first of the runs. The event will be organised in three categories (5km, 10km and 21km). While the registration for the locals who participate in the 5 km is free, the others (outsiders) have to pay for registration. For 10K run the fee is Rs 400 and for 21K run is Rs 600,” said event organiser Jagan Mohan.
“We are providing breakfast and lunch for the participants with accommodation as a part of the event,” he said adding that only breakfast is served at many such events for the participants. “Gandra Jyothi, who is a well-known marathon runner, is supporting us to conduct the event along with her husband MLA Venkataramana Reddy,” Jangan Mohan said, reminding us that Jyothi (51) had so far participated in Berlin, Boston, Chicago, New York and London marathons.
“The participants can visit prehistoric sites like Pandavula Gutta in Regonda mandal, UNESCO heritage sites such as Ramappa Temple at Palamapet in Mulugu district and others tourist places. But they have to make their own arrangements,” Jagan Mohan said and added that other places of tourist interest are; Kaleshwaram project, Kaleshwara Mukteswara Swamy Temple, Ramappa Lake, Laknavaram Lake, and Medaram Sammakka-Saakka shrine. “Events like this help to promote the sporting culture in the society,” said Ravinder Reddy, a resident of Bhupalpally.
The Run starts and ends at Dr B R Ambedkar Stadium, Krishna colony of Bhupalpally Town. No traffic, no sound or disturbances except the rhythmic tapping of your feet. This is going to be the ‘Joy of Running’ at its best,” Jagna Mohan added.
