Telangana Sports Hackathon concludes with strong youth participation

Hyderabad: The Sports Hackathon, a pioneering initiative integrating sports, innovation, and technology within a live stadium environment, concluded successfully at Gachibowli Stadium here.
The 24-hour non-stop event witnessed large-scale participation from students, athletes, startups, and innovators, generating 2,132 sports-driven innovations.
Mr Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, Special Chief Secretary (Sports), Government of Telangana, who played a key role in encouraging and supporting the initiative, addressed the participants and emphasized the importance of creating platforms that enable youth to translate real-time sporting experiences into meaningful innovations. Mr Banda Prakash, Deputy Speaker, Mr Ponnala Lakshmaiah, former Minister, and Mr Arshid Chevverty also graced the event.
A unique feature of the hackathon was its integration of 24 different sports disciplines, including karate, volleyball, swimming, fencing, powerlifting, chess, carroms, and several other indoor and outdoor games. Participants actively engaged in these sports, identified real on-ground challenges, and translated them into innovative solutions. The Pitch Arena served as the central platform where selected ideas were presented before a distinguished jury comprising experts, officials, and investors.
The innovations generated span areas such as performance enhancement, training methodologies, fan engagement, and sports technology, reflecting insights derived from diverse sporting environments. All 2,132 innovations are being curated for publication in an official Sports Hackathon Souvenir, creating a lasting repository and enabling further development and scale.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Sundeep Kumar Makthala, Brand Owner – Hackathon, said: “This initiative has demonstrated how sport can become a powerful source of innovation. The ideas generated here reflect the creativity and potential of our youth, and we are committed to taking these innovations forward to create real impact.”
