Hyderabad: Women and Child Welfare Minister Satyavathi Rathod on Sunday said the TRS government is striving for the welfare of women in the State.
Conveying greetings to all mothers on the occasion of International Mothers Day, she said Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao had introduced several schemes for the welfare of women. The State government had introduced schemes like Amma Vodi, KCR Kits, Kalyana Lakshmi and Shaadi Mubarak, apart from setting up 53 separate residential educational institutions for girls, she said.
For the protection of women, SHE Teams, Women Protection Cell, Bharosa and Sakhi centres were also established. The government is also issuing ration cards and allocating 2BHK flats to women besides extending reservations for women in market committees, the Minister said.
Two other schemes — ‘Aarogya Lakshmi’, a nutrition programme to support pregnant and lactating women, and ‘Balamrutham’, a weaning food introduced under Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS) to provide improved supplementary nutrition to children aged between seven months and three years — were also introduced, the Minister added.
