Telangana students pursuing academics in various higher education institutions in the border States are scrambling to return to their hometowns
Hyderabad: As the tensions between India and Pakistan continue to escalate following drones, missiles and aircraft strikes across the borders, Telangana students pursuing academics in various higher education institutions in the border States are scrambling to return to their hometowns.
As the large shelling and deafening explosions are emerging in States, including Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Rajasthan, students and their parents are spending anxious moments besides sleepless nights.
So far, the Telangana Bhavan, which has set up a dedicated controlled room, has received around 30 SOS calls from distressed students and people who went to North Indian states seeking employment and for other purposes.
As of now, eight Telangana students pursuing their academics in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu have safely reached Telangana Bhawan, Delhi. Students from Lovely Professional University, Jalandhar, and Jammu have also reached Telangana Bhavan, Delhi.
Telangana Bhavan Resident Commissioner Dr Gaurav Uppal interacted with students and sought details. With people staying indoors, limited transportation availability and roads blocked, several people are finding it difficult to reach Delhi. People utilised different transportation services to reach the national capital.
According to official sources, in coordination with district administration, efforts are being made to ensure safe transportation of students and others from these bordering states to Delhi.

Free food and lodging facilities are being provided to Telangana citizens returning from bordering states at Telangana Bhavan, which is arranging accommodations outside as well.
In addition to the medical camps established to provide immediate health check-ups and care at Telangana Bhavan, Telangana residents are being provided transportation assistance to airport.
