Telangana TET 2026: 15,749 in-service teachers qualify, another special exam in November

Of the 22,477 in-service government and local body school teachers who appeared for the special TG TET 2026, 15,749 qualified. School Education director E Naveen Nicolas said another special TET would be held in November, subject to applications.

Hyderabad:  Nearly 7,000 in-service government and local body school teachers failed to crack the special Telangana Teacher Eligibility Test (TG TET) 2026.

A total of 22,477 appeared and 15,749 passed the special TET that was exclusively conducted for the in-service teachers on September 8 and 9, and results declared by School Education director Dr. E Naveen Nicolas here on Saturday.

A total of 4,942 teachers appeared for the TET paper – I and 3,398 qualified. As many as 6,720 out of 9,131 teachers who took the paper II (Mathematics and Science) were declared qualified. Similarly, 8,404 teachers sat for paper – II and 5,631 qualified. The Paper I and Paper II are conducted to determine teaching eligibility for Classes I to V and Classes VI to VIII respectively.

Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Nicolas said another special TET for the in-service teachers would be released in the month of October.

“Depending on the number of applications, the exam will be conducted in the month of November and results will be quickly released,” he said.

The State government is holding special TETs as the Supreme Court mandated that all in-service teachers, except those with less than five years of service, clear the TET by August 2028, to retain their jobs. However, teachers with less than five years of service must pass the TET to become eligible for promotion. Since the court judgment, the government conducted one special and two regular TETs.

A regular TET notification would be issued in the month of November and exams were being planned in the month of January, 2027, he added. Both DEd and BEd graduates, and in-service teachers can apply for the regular TET.
