Adilabad: Three persons died on the spot when a van overturned after ramming into a tractor at Mannur village in Gudihathnoor mandal on Friday night.

Gudihathnoor Sub-Inspector B Mallesh said that the deceased were van driver Ramanjaneyulu (36) and cleaner SK Khaza Wali (25), both belonging to Dharmavaram in Anantapur district along with a daily wager Athram Nagesh (37) from of Ankoli village in Adilabad mandal.

Ramanjaneyulu, Khaza Wali and Nagesh received fatal injuries as the van was overturned when it hit the stationary tractor, resulting in instantaneous death for the trio at around midnight of Friday. Ramanjaneyulu and Wali were transporting tomatoes by the van from Hyderabad to Adilabad at the time of the accident.

Nagesh was sitting on the tractor parked on the Hyderabad-Nagpur national highway, when the mishap occurred. Rash driving of Khaja and negligence of the tractor driver of the tractor appears to be the cause of the accident. It was learnt that Ramanjaneyulu was in an inebriated condition leading to the accident.

Based on a complaint received from a family member of the victims, a case was registered against the tractor driver Bandi Pentaiah. Investigation has been taken up. The bodies were shifted to Rajiv Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS)-Adilabad for post-mortem.
