Peddapalli: Three persons including the main suspect, Kunta Srinivas, who were allegedly involved in the murder of High Court lawyer couple, Gattu Vamana Rao and his wife Nagamani on Wednesday, have reportedly surrendered themselves to the police.
The couple was mercilessly stabbed to death near Kalwacherala of Ramagiri mandal on Wednesday afternoon. When passersby asked Vamana Rao about the assailants, he was heard mentioning the name of a Kunta Srinivas. In a complaint lodged with police, Vamana Rao’s father Kishan Rao also mentioned the names of Kunta Srinivas, Akkapaka Kumar and Vasantha Rao as responsible for his son and daughter-in-law’s murder.
Based on the complaint, sources said police raided the houses of the suspects late on Wednesday night. Later, they surrendered to the cops, the sources said. Police are questioning the accused about the motive for the murder. Both the victims as well as the accused belong to Gunjapadugu of Manthani mandal. Tension developed between Vamana Rao and Srinivas over the construction of a temple and a house by the latter in the village.
Vamana Rao was considering filing a case in the court against Srinivas as he was allegedly constructing the house on government land, the sources said, adding that Srinivas had warned Vamana Rao with severe consequences if he filed a case in the court.
It is learnt that rumours were spread in Manthani in the past three months that Vamana Rao would be killed. The assailant were also observing the movements of the lawyer couple, the sources added.
