Telangana to distribute laminated PDS ration cards from August 15
The Telangana government will distribute fresh laminated Public Distribution System ration cards to 1.05 crore existing beneficiaries from August 15. Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy will launch the programme in Sangareddy, while distribution will take place simultaneously across all Assembly constituencies.
Hyderabad: The State government will begin distributing fresh laminated Public Distribution System (PDS) ration cards to 1.05 crore existing beneficiaries from August 15. The distribution will be launched at the State level by Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy in Sangareddy and will be held simultaneously across all 119 Assembly constituencies.
Civil Supplies Minister N Uttam Kumar Reddy issued orders directing Revenue Divisional Officers (RDOs) and district administrations to coordinate the exercise, including the printing, transportation and arrangements at distribution centres. He said the initiative was aimed at strengthening food security and ensuring eligible families receive the benefits available under the public distribution system.
Officials clarified that the exercise does not involve issuing 1.05 crore new ration cards and that the cards being distributed are laminated physical versions for existing beneficiaries, including newly approved eligible families. However, they said the issuance of new ration cards is a continuous process.
