Hyderabad: With focus on improving the existing infrastructure and the quality of education in government schools, the State government is all set to launch ‘Mana Ooru-Mana Badi’ programme soon across the State. The State Cabinet on Monday approved a budgetary allocation of Rs 7,289 crore to strengthen government schools in the State as part of the programme.
The State Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao at Pragathi Bhavan on Monday, took a slew of measures to strengthen the education system in the State. In line with the growing demand from parents, the Cabinet decided to bring in a new legislation for regulation of fee in private schools, junior and degree colleges as well as introduce English medium in goverment schools from next academic year.
A Cabinet sub-committee has been formed to study and prepare modalities for the new Act which will be introduced during the Budget session of the State Legislative Assembly. While Education Minister P Sabitha Indra Reddy will chair the sub-committee, Ministers KT Rama Rao, T Harish Rao, G Jagadish Reddy, Talasani Srinivas Yadav, S Niranjan Reddy, Vemula Prashanth Reddy, V Srinivas Goud, Koppula Eeshwar, Puvvada Ajay Kumar and Errabelli Dayakar Rao will be its members.
Further, the Cabinet also approved the proposals for establishment of a Women’s University and a Forest University in the State. The Chief Secretary has been directed to submit detailed reports on both the proposals to the State government before the next Cabinet meeting.
Reservations for FCRI passouts
Students who completed the four-year degree course from the Forest College of Research and Institute (FCRI) at Mulugu in Siddipet district, will be provided reservations in job recruitments to different posts in the Forest department. As part of the Cabinet decision, the FCRI graduates will get 25 per cent reservation to posts of Assistant Conservator of Forests (ACF), 50 per cent reservations each to the posts in the categories of Forest Range Officers (FROs) and Foresters. Accordingly, the Cabinet has approved for amendments to the Telangana State Forest Service Rules of 1997 and Telangana State Forest Subordinate Service Rules of 200.
COVID-19 status
The State government is fully prepared to tackle any situation arising out of the spike in Covid-19 cases in the State. More than five crore vaccines have already been administered so far, covering the entire State population with the first dose of vaccine. The spread of the virus is under control, recording minimal hospitalisation and deaths when compared to previous years, the officials informed the Cabinet.
Health Minister T Harish Rao informed that the Medical and Health department was fully prepared to deal with Covid-19 cases and people need not panic unnecessarily. He, however, insisted that people strictly follow Covid-19 protocol and avoid crowds by imposing self-restrictions. He stated that vaccination was intensified to cover entire population of the State in the shortest possible time.
Chandrashekhar Rao who took stock of the Covid-19 situation in the State amid spike in Covid-19 cases, and asked the Ministers and Collectors of the various districts to convene review meetings and coordinate with the Municipal and Panchayat Raj departments to complete vaccination at the earliest.
CM to visit Warangal on Tuesday
Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will tour the erstwhile Warangal district on Tuesday to take stock of crop damage in the unseasonal rains last week. He is likely to visit Parakal and Narsampeta mandals in Parakal Assembly constituency. He will be accompanied by Agriculture Minister S Niranjan Reddy, Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar and other top officials.
Since the unseasonal rains disrupted paddy procurement in some districts, the State Cabinet decided to keep the procurement centres open till the entire paddy crop was procured. The State government has been procuring paddy for the Vaankalam (Kharif) season.
