Hyderabad: Senior journalist Anil Kumar, who was a Principal Correspondent with ‘Telangana Today’, passed away late on Sunday. He was 55. Anil Kumar, who worked with different publications in Hyderabad and Warangal, covered power-related topics and the BJP after joining ‘Telangana Today’ in 2022.
Prior to this, he was with ‘The New Indian Express’ for six years. He also served as Bureau in-charge with ‘Swatantra Vartha’, where he worked for 12 years. He started his career as a reporter with ‘News Time’ in 1994, and had stints with the ‘TNIE’, Chennai, ‘AP Times’ and ‘Daily Hindi Milap’ in Hyderabad.
Anil was on a holiday with his wife Asha and daughter Rashmi at Gokarna in Karnataka. He suffered a heart attack while returning after darshan at the Shri Murudeshwara Temple and passed away at a nearby hospital late on Sunday.
A resident of Safilguda in Secunderabad, he is survived by his wife, daughter and son Rahul. Anil’s funeral is likely to be held after 11 am at the Alwal crematorium on Tuesday.

Former Rajya Sabha member Joginipally Santosh Kumar also expressed his heartfelt sorrow over the untimely demise, and lauded Anil’s invaluable contributions to the field of journalism and described his passing as a great loss.
