Telangana: Toddy tapper dies after falling from palm tree in Peddapalli
While climbing the tree he slipped and fell in a defunct well located beside the tree and died on the spot. He lost grip and slipped as the tree was soaked due to continuous drizzling during the day.
Peddapalli: A toddy tapper, Erukonda Thirupati Goud (35) died after falling from a palm tree in Jeelakunta of Odela mandal in the district on Friday. He is survived by wife, daughter and son.
According to the villagers, Thirupati Goud, who was practicing the caste profession, climbed a palm tree as usual to tap toddy on Friday evening. However, the tree which got soaked due to continuous drizzling throughout the day, was wet and slippery.
As a result, Thirupati Goud lost grip and fell in a defunct well located next to the tree and died on the spot. When he did not return home in the night, family members searched for him and found his body in the well.
Learning about the incident, the police visited the village and began investigation into the incident by registering the case. The body was shifted to Sultanabad hospital for postmortem.
