Karimnagar: TS Planning Board Vice Chairman B Vinod Kumar said on Sunday that Telangana topped the country in attracting investments to the State. According to the State Bank of India’s recent report, Telangana was in the first place in attracting investments, he said. “The State is being developed on all fronts on fast track mode because of the visionary decisions taken by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Attracted by the developmental model implemented in the State, major companies from across the globe are coming forward to invest in Telangana,” he said.
Vinod Kumar along with BC Welfare and Civil Supplies Minister Gangula Kamalakar inaugurated an indoor stadium at Ambedkar stadium here. Speaking on the occasion, he found fault with BJP leaders for criticising the State government. During their recent visit to the State, Chief Ministers and former Chief Ministers of BJP ruled States criticised the State government, he said.
Though TRS leaders challenged BJP leaders for debate on the development of the State, saffron party leaders failed to turn up, Vinod Kumar said, adding that BJP leaders were criticising the State for the sake of criticism but there was no truth in their argument.
Though it was a new State, Telangana was competing with Gujarat, Maharastra and Tamil Nadu. The State government was providing free current, water and other schemes but no State government ruled by BJP was implementing these schemes. Four BJP MPs from the State failed to get sanctioned a single rupee, he alleged.
Talking about the development of sports in the State, he said that the State government was contemplating developing sports in rural areas as part of Palle Pragathi. Villages have been transformed by providing tractors, developing nurseries, graveyards and others as part of Palle Pragathi. In a similar way, facilities would also be provided to rural sports persons to develop skills in various events.
Stating that Chandrashekhar Rao was also thinking about it, he said MA&UD Minister KT Rama Rao has also instructed the development of sports in rural areas. Rama Rao recently tweeted it while responding to a question asked by a person, he informed. Kamalakar informed that they were working with a concept to develop Karimnagar as the second biggest town in the state in the coming one and half years. Besides the Smart City, Palle Pragathi and Chief Minister assurance works have been taken up to develop the town on all fronts.
Various developmental works were taken up with Rs 12 crore in Ambedkar stadium. While the indoor stadium was renovated with Rs 1.50 crore, skating and basketball courts were developed by spending Rs 35 lakh each. The shopping complex is being developed with Rs 8 crore. Municipal Corporation of Karimnagar has decided to take up various works in Ambedkar stadium by spending Rs 9 crore.
Karimnagar would become a popular tourism spot once Manair riverfront and cable bridge works were completed, he said. Karimnagar Mayor Y Sunil Rao, deputy mayor Challa Swarupa Rani, Additional collector GV Shamprasad Lal, MCK commissioner Seva Islavath, district youth and sports development office Rajaveeru and others participated in the programme.
