Mancherial: Government Whip Balka Suman said Telangana topped the country in paddy procurement despite the adverse impact of Covid-19 pandemic on the economy of the State.
Speaking to the media along with Bellampalli MLA Durgam Chinnaiah here on Monday, Suman said the government had procured 55 lakh metric tonnes of paddy so far, recording the highest purchase of produce and leading all other states in the country. “No state including those ruled by BJP has achieved this feat. Telangana is followed by Tamil Nadu and Odisha in procurement of paddy,” he said.
The government whip lashed out at BJP state president Bandi Sanjay for commenting against the government with regard to the procurement. He stated that Sanjay was making meaningless remarks and was not realising the schemes and initiatives of the government. He stated that farmers would teach a lesson to the saffron party soon.
Suman said the government was implementing a slew of schemes for the empowerment of farmers. He cited Mission Kakatiya and enhancement of storage capacity of warehouses and Rythu Bandhu schemes. He asked Sanjay to show a government which introduced as many as initiatives meant for the agrarian community across the country.
The Chennur legislator stated that farmers were disgusted by the comments of the BJP chief. He opined that nominees of the party could not register victory in by-polls to Nagarjunasagar Assembly constituency and elections to Warangal and Khammam municipal corporations. He added that the party lost its sole MLC to TRS in recent elections.
