Peddapalli: Farmers staged a rasta roko at Dharmaram mandal headquarters on Monday, demanding supply of urea. Vehicular traffic on the Karimnagar-Rayapatnam road came to a standstill as the protest continued for nearly half an hour.
CSC fertiliser shop at Dharmaram caters to farmers from Kothapalli, Bommareddypalli and Yerraguntapalli. With stocks running out and the shop remaining closed on Sunday, a large number of farmers gathered on Monday seeking urea.
When the organisers informed them that the government had not allocated stocks to the shop, the farmers launched a protest and raised slogans against the State government.
They warned that their investment would go to waste if urea was not supplied for the second application to paddy crops, and alleged that agriculture officials were indifferent to their plight.
