Hyderabad: The TS Transco is making elaborate arrangements to administer Covid-19 vaccine to as many as 52,000 employees across the State. It started the exercise after Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to make arrangements for inoculating Energy Department staff shortly. The Chief Minister gave these instructions following a request from TS Transco Chairman and Managing Director D Prabhakar Rao. Prabhakar Rao thanked the Chief Minister for the decision to administer vaccines to employees.

Officials said 80 employees of TS Transco lost their lives during the second wave of Covid-19 virus and over 3,000 were infected by the virus. They said employees were working hard to ensure uninterrupted power supply to all sectors in the State. Adhering to Covid safety protocols, the employees were attending to their duties.

Meanwhile, the Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) has administered vaccine to 32,417 employees so far and plans have been chalked out to give vaccine to the remaining staff by August, said SCCL General Manager (Coordination) K Suryanarayana. Of the 32,417 employees, 12,113 are SCCL employees, 14,122 are workers’ family members and 6,182 other staff have been vaccinated so far.

Since SCCL had given wide publicity on the advantages of getting vaccines, a majority of employees, workers and their families came forward for the vaccination. SCCL Chairman and Managing Director N Sridhar said the vaccine drive taken up in coordination with the Health Department was continuing in a hassle-free manner.
