Jagtial: TRS activists and farmers staged a protest and burnt effigies of Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Aravind in Metpalli and Korutla areas, opposing the MP’s visit to the district on Tuesday.
The MP was scheduled to tour Mularampur, Godur, Barthipur and Chittapur on Tuesday.
Opposing Aravind’s visit, TRS workers and farmers staged protest and raised “Go back Aravind” slogans.
The agitating people alleged that the MP failed to fulfill his poll promises. During the 2019 Parliament election campaign, Aravind promised to that he would ensure a turmeric board within five days and reopen sugar factory within 100 days if he was elected.
The MP, however, forgot his promise after the elections, they said, adding he has no moral right to tour in the district.
Demanding that the MP apologise to the farmers before visiting the district, they warned that they would block his visit if he failed to do so.
To avert any untoward incident, police took the TRS leaders and activities into preventive custody.
