MAHABUBNAGAR: Two children died after falling into a large pit dug up for Palamuru Rangareddy Lift Irrigation (PLRI) works at Uddandapur under Jadcharla mandal in the district. The deceased have been identified as Bhagyalaxmi (6) and Mahesh (4).
The incident occurred when the two children accompanied their mother to their agriculture field. As the mother was occupied with the field work, the two children accidentally fell into the pit, which appears like a lake.
The locals immediately fished out the children and performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation but all their efforts turned futile. The villagers are staging a protest at the spot and demanding support from the government.
