Telangana: Two women drown as boat capsizes in Sarpanpally lake, bodies recovered

Two women from Bihar, Ritika and Poonam, drowned after a boat capsized in Sarpanpally lake, Vikarabad. Locals rescued two others, while police and divers recovered the bodies. A case has been registered and an investigation is underway.

Hyderabad: The bodies of the two women who had drowned in the Sarpanpally lake at Vikarabad were retrieved out and sent to mortuary on Sunday.

The women Ritika (44) and Poonam (50), both natives of Bihar had come to a resort at Vikarabad along with their family.

Later, they booked a boat ride. While enjoying the boat ride, the vessel suddenly capsized, resulting in the drowning of two women. Hearing their screams, locals rushed to the rescue and managed to save two others.

On information the police rushed to the spot and with the help of experts retrieved the bodies from the lake. The bodies were sent to the local government hospital for postmortem examination.

A case is registered and an investigation is going on.
