Hyderabad: Conventional universities in the State have extended the summer vacation for campus, constituent and affiliated colleges up to June 6. Similarly, Kakatiya University and Satavahana University extended summer vacation up to June 5 and colleges will be reopened on June 6. However, the universities asked principals and faculty members who are holding administrative positions to attend the office as usual.
Telangana Government Colleges Gazetted Teachers’ Association general secretary and Collegiate Education JAC chairman Dr. Kadaru Surender Reddy said under UGC regulations, degree colleges are entitled to 10 weeks of vacation every year. However, State universities had originally declared holidays only from May 1 to May 31.
“Considering that faculty members were also engaged in the State’s education week celebrations and census-related duties, and in view of the prevailing intense summer heat, the association appealed to the Vice Chancellors and Registrars of various universities in Telangana to extend the vacation period,” he added.
