Kumram Bheem: A woman and her 14-year old son accidentally drowned in Penganga river when they were taking a holy dip in the river on account of the auspicious Maha Sivaratri festival on the outskirts of Lonavelli village in Sirpur (T) mandal on Tuesday. Police launched a search for tracing the bodies.

Sirpur (T) Sub-Inspector M Ravi Kumar said that the deceased were Erukonda Padma (38) and her son Rakshit, residents of Lonavelli village. Padma and Rakshit met a watery grave when they were trying to take a holy dip at a deepest spot of the river. They were not familiar with swimming.

Some devotees who were present at the spot tried to rescue the woman and boy, but in vain. Police rushed to the spot and pressed expert divers to spot the bodies.
