Telangana Women Safety Wing receives 1,408 domestic violence petitions in September

Hyderabad: The Domestic Violence unit of the Women Safety Wing (WSW) of Telangana police during the month of September received 1408 petitions following which 286 FIRs were booked and 336 cases resolved through professional policing interventions.
Shikha Goel, Director General, Women Safety Wing of Telangana police, said the police are moving ahead with a mission to combat domestic violence and support women’s rights and provides legal assistance, counseling and police intervention.
The unit offers specialize in case management, raises awareness, and promotes partnerships with NGOs and other organizations. “The initiative actively engages with communities to protect vulnerable women and children affected by domestic violence by creating a robust network of support,” Shikha Goel said.
Additionally, the Non Resident Indian (NRI) cell assists women abandoned by their spouses by collaborating with police officers concerned and other legal partners to provide legal aid necessary for resolving the issues, she said.
