Telangana youth shine at Khelo India Youth Games, bag 3 gold in swimming

Patna/New Delhi: Rajasthan cyclist Harshita Jakhar bagged two gold medals to share the limelight with Maharashtra swimmer Aditi Satish Hegde in the Khelo India Youth Games on Tuesday.
Harshita won a gold medal each in the scratch race and time trial (500m), while her cousin Aditya Jakhar emerged victorious in the boys scratch race. Earlier, Mayank Chaudhary bagged a gold in the 10m air pistol event.
Rajasthan occupied the top spot with six gold and two silver. Karnataka (5 gold, 9 silver and 3 bronze) and Maharashtra (5 gold, 6 silver and 9 bronze) were in hot pursuit of Rajasthan.
Maharashtra’s Aditi Satish Hegde, who won the 800m freestyle gold on Monday, added two more yellow metals to her collection by winning the 400m freestyle (4:32.87s) and 100m butterfly (1:04.73s) events on Tuesday.
Telangana enjoyed a good day in the BIPARD swimming pool in Gaya, winning three gold medals through Varshith Dhulipidi (boys 400m individual medley), Suhas Preetham Mylari (boys 100m backstroke) and Sri Nithya Sagi (girls 100m backstroke).
Sampath wins gold, Samadev bronze
G Sampath Kumar Yadav and M Theerdhu Samadev won gold and bronze, respectively, in the Khelo India Youth Games swimming competition in Patna on Wednesday. Sampath won gold in the 1500m freestyle event, clocking 16.30.57, while Samadev won a bronze in the same event, clocking 16.30.75.
Sai Charan bags bronze in cycling
G Sai Charan Yadav of Telangana settled for a bronze in the cycling event of the Khelo India Youth Games in Patna on Tuesday.
The Hyderabad boy clocked 1:09.056 to clinch the medal in the 1 km event.
