According to the police, the accused Karthik Reddy (26) was reportedly addicted to liquor. He used to pick up arguments with his parents asking for a share in their property to meet his expenses.

During one such argument, Karthik stabbed his mother Radhika (52) eight times in the early hours of Monday. She was rushed to a corporate hospital for treatment. She breathed her last while undergoing treatment hours later.

The police registered a case and he was taken into custody. The probe is on.
