Telangana: YouTuber faces 30-day ban for alleged defamatory videos against officials
District officials in Sircilla issued a 30-day ban on YouTuber Kayethi Balaraju under Section 163 of the BNS for allegedly making defamatory and provocative statements against officials. The notice warns of strict action if the order is violated.
Rajanna Sircilla: District officials have imposed restrictions on a YouTube channel owner Kayethi Balaraju from telecasting any news or making videos under section 163 of BNS.
In this regard, a notice was issued by Sircilla Tahsildar S Mahesh Kumar on July 21, 2025. A copy of the notice pasted to the house of Balaraju in Sircilla on July 23.
The tahsildar, in his notice, said that he came to know that Balaraju has been persistently making false, defamatory, and provocative statements targeting the district Collector and other officials by using vile, derogatory and personal comments through YouTube and other social media.
He was trying to incite disturbance to public tranquility and order. If he was allowed to continue unchecked, it may result in breach of peace, provocation of unlawful assembly and cause serious disturbance to the public order.
So, orders were issued under section 163 of BNS prohibiting Balaraju from making, publishing or disseminating any public statement, video, messages or written communication, wherein print or digital or oral that was defamatory, derogatory or provocative in nature against any public servant.
The order would be valid for a period of 30 days unless withdrawn or modified earlier. If order was violated, action would be taken according to the BNS act.
Balaraju, who is running a YouTube channel Balagam TV, telecast news against the arrest of farmer Raji Reddy, removal of tea stall of a poor person and seizure of milk dairy.
