Telangana’s GM Raja Rithvik wins bronze at Cappelle International Chess Championship
Entering the tournament as the sixth seed, Rithvik delivered a strong performance, securing 7 points across 9 rounds with six victories, two draws, and a single loss. The championship saw participation from 533 elite players representing 26 nations, including the USA, Canada, France, Germany, India, Sweden, Italy, and China.

Hyderabad: Telangana Grandmaster (GM) Raja Rithvik secured third place with a bronze medal at the prestigious Cappelle International Chess Championship 2025, held in Cappelle-La-Grande, France.
Sixth seeded, Rithvik finished with 7 points (6 wins, two draws, one loss) from 9 rounds, finishing with an appeal to 533 top players from 26 countries: USA, Canada, France, Germany, India, Sweden, Italy, China.
Gold went to GM Boyer Mahel (France), silver to GM Iniyan Panneerselvam (India), and bronze to GM Rithvik.
Rithvik is pursuing engineering at KL University, Hyderabad. He currently trains at RACE Chess Academy under local coach N. Rama Raju and is being coached online by Alexander Goloshchapov from Ukraine.
This adds further to Rithvik’s accolades, including a silver medal at the Laplagne International Chess Championship in France in 2024, a silver at the National Blitz Championship, and a bronze at the National Rapid Championship.
A. Jaya Chandra, secretary, Telangana State Chess Association, has congratulated him while listing down his past victories from National, Commonwealth, and Asian championships.
GM Raja Rithvik has become internationally acknowledged as one of the earthly rising chess talents in India.
