Telangana Grandmaster Raja Rithvik won the silver medal at the Menuires International Chess Championship in France after finishing unbeaten with seven points from nine rounds. He lost the title to compatriot Rohith Krishna on the tie-break despite defeating higher-rated Maxime Lagarde in the final round.

Entering the tournament as the sixth seed, Rithvik delivered a strong performance, securing 7 points across 9 rounds with six victories, two draws, and a single loss. The championship saw participation from 533 elite players representing 26 nations, including the USA, Canada, France, Germany, India, Sweden, Italy, and China.

The ninth-seed player secured five wins and four draws to remain unbeaten in the championship, which featured 184 players from 22 countries.

In a championship featuring 224 top players nationwide, the 6th seed, Rithvik, showcased remarkable prowess by securing an impressive 9 points out of 11 rounds
