Hyderabad: The State government’s continuing efforts to increase the green cover in Telangana has once again won accolades from Erik Solheim, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme and former Norway Environment Minister.
On Wednesday, tweeting a 36-second aerial video of the Warangal forest region shared by Telangana Forest department Additional PCCF Mohan Chandra Pargaien, Solheim tweeted: “Beautiful Telangana. This Indian state has increased its green cover with 3% over a short time. Look at this Lush green forests of Warangal!” (Sic)
Given the international following Solheim has, the tweet has quickly gone viral, with nearly 500 people retweeting it and more than 2,500 people liking it.
This is not the first time that Solheim has shared Telangana’s greenery initiatives on Twitter for a global audience.
In August, he said Telangana was ‘a global front runner increasing its tree cover’. Praising the State for being a leader in establishing urban parks, he had then tweeted a video of the lush green Narsapur Urban Park near Hyderabad.
