Hyderabad: Telangana State’s Jagan Mohan Rao Arshnapally has been elected as the president of Handball Federation of India on Sunday.
Jagan Mohan filed his nomination for the top post on October 18 and he was elected unanimously for the post as there was no other contender. He took charge at the office in Lucknow on Sunday.
Speaking on the elevation, he said, “I am truly grateful to all the 29 State associations for electing as HFI president unanimously. I swear to work hard for the development of handball in the country. Handball is a very popular game in India. But it’s highly overshadowed by cricket and badminton. To cope with this problem, we came up with the idea of Handball Premier League,” he said.
