Hyderabad: Telangana Cricket Association general secretary Guruva Reddy alleged that the BCCI had granted Rs 171 crores in the last two years as financial grant, but there was no sign of any new infrastructure either in the city or across Telangana.
“It’s high time either the BCCI or the state government intervened immediately to clean up the mess in the HCA,” he said.
Mr Reddy informed the media here on Saturday that what was most disappointing was the ease with which the recommendations of the Supreme Court and the Telangana High Court were repeatedly flouted on crucial subjects.
The TCA official lamented the fact that some able administrators remained silent about the corruption, financial irregularities, and fraudulent activities in the HCA.
Mr Reddy alleged that undue influence was the reason for clearing the nomination of A Jagan Mohan Rao in the HCA elections in October 2023, though he was not eligible as per the BCCI Constitution and the HCA Rules and Bye-laws.
“In fact, Mr Jagan Mohan was also an office-bearer in the Handball Federation of India and, at the same time, he was allowed to file nomination in the 2023 HCA elections, which was against the National Sports Code of Conduct,” he said.
“It may be mentioned here that Mr Jagan Mohan, who won the president’s election by a margin of just one vote, allowed the 57 suspended affiliated clubs to be back in the HCA against the directions of the court,” Guruva Reddy said.
“The vendorship selection, the brazen misuse of position and power to exploit parents for money and other favours, has further buried the HCA,” he said.
