Telangana’s Pavani wins bronze at World Ability Sports Games
Seventeen-year-old Pavani of Telangana won bronze in the R4 10m air rifle standing mixed SH2 category at the World Ability Sports Games in Thailand. She became the youngest medallist and is now preparing for the Asian Games and Paralympics 2028

Hyderabad: Seventeen-year-old Pavani of Telangana, a former World Cup bronze medallist, clinched a bronze medal in the World Ability Sports Games at Nakhon Ratchasima (Thailand) in the R4 10m air rifle standing mixed SH2 category.
The Telangana shooter also became the youngest to win a medal in the Games.
“Pavani pushed through challenges that would stop many — but not her. Supported by Invesco, Alcon, and GMMCO, who back the para-athletes of the Aditya Mehta Foundation, she has turned every obstacle into motivation and every opportunity into remarkable progress,” according to a media release on Monday.
“She is trained by coach Vijay Singham and the World Ability Sports Games stands as one of the world’s most respected platforms celebrating precision, strength, and resilience in para-athletes. For Pavani, competing here — and excelling — marks not just a sporting achievement but a deeply emotional milestone,” it said.
Pavani is now training hard for the upcoming Asian Games and the Paralympics 2028, aiming to bring more glory to the country.
“Pavani’s story will continue inspiring countless others to follow the path of courage, ambition, and excellence,” the release added.
