Hyderabad: Grand Master Shaswat Kumar of Telangana was honoured with the International Martial Arts Legend Award in Malaysia on Friday.
Shaswat, the founder of Senkoukai Karate, was presented with the award by Grand Master Knight Mohd Arif Syafiq, 10th Dan Black Belt and founder of Juche Academy, at the Academy’s headquarters in Malaysia.
Speaking to Telangana Today, Shaswat emphasized that Senkoukai Karate is India’s own independent Karate style.
“It is completely autonomous and does not follow the rules of any other Karate style, federation, organization, association, or world council. Senkoukai Karate has its own unique syllabus, kata, and regulations, and strictly follows its self-designed rules and training methods,” he said.
The 36-year-old Hyderabadi previously received the World Martial Arts Pioneer Award from Prof Soke Hanshi Dr. Thanh Winter-Luong, President of the Kabudo Karate Federation and Kabudo Martial Arts Institute, Germany.
The award was presented in recognition of his contributions to the global growth and promotion of martial arts, particularly through his work with the Senkoukai Karate system.
