HYDERABAD: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy stressed that installation of a telemetry system was the only solution to prevent Andhra Pradesh from drawing excess water from River Krishna than the prescribed quota.

However, irrigation officials informed the Chief Minister that Andhra Pradesh was delaying payment of its share for installation of the telemetry system. Irrigation Principal Secretary Rahul Bojja was directed to write a letter to the Krishna River Management Board (KRMB) immediately in this regard. He was asked to inform that all the funds required for implementation of telemetry system were being paid by Telangana government and to take necessary steps for installation of the telemetry immediately.

The Chief Minister also asked officials to be more alert in utilising River Krishna water from Srisailam and Nagarjuna Sagar projects.

“Lodge a complaint with the Union government over diversion of water by Andhra Pradesh unilaterally. The Union government should take the responsibility of stopping Andhra Pradesh from drawing excess water,” Revanth Reddy said.

He instructed officials to release water to the crops as per the plan from various projects in the State and also suggested that Collectors to visit projects, canals, crops in ayacut and review the release of water.

Ration cards

The Chief Minister ordered officials to make arrangements for issuing new ration cards in districts where MLC election code was not in vogue. They were also asked to complete the verification of applications for new ration cards received in Gram Sabhas, Caste Survey and at Mee Seva centres at the earliest.
