Dubai: Celebrating Indian Independence Day with cultural diversity among all faiths reflects the core democratic ethos of unity in diversity, showing how a shared national identity and love for the nation can harmoniously transcend differences in religion, language and tradition.
Indian diversity is not merely something to accommodate; it is the very character and strength of the Indian ethos that was reflected during the Indian Independence Day celebrations held by the Telugu Christian Community in Dubai on Sunday.
Yahweh Shalom, a Telugu Church, celebrated Indian Independence Day, preceded by Holy Mass, with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit, with most of the women clad in tricolour sarees, radiating joy while holding flags in their hands.
“We have been celebrating Indian Independence Day for the last 12 years in our church,” said Reverend Sampada Rao Adidala.
He added, “The beauty of this country is the diversity of culture, faith and ethnicity, with a feeling of common brotherhood.”
Yahweh Shalom is one among many Telugu Christian prayer groups that render spiritual services to the community in Dubai.
