Jeddah: After a gap of two years, The Telugu NRI community in Saudi Arabia came out for a social gathering and celebrated Telugu New Year Ugadi.
The event was held at Indian Embassy recently as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahostav. Senior diplomat Ram Prasad formally launched the programme by lightning the lamp.
Antony Rebal, President of Telugu Kala Kshetram, a Telugu NRI organization in Riyadh, presided over the function.
Various cultural programmes performed by local Telugu NRIs including women and children in traditional attire under supervision Reshmi Vinod mesmerized the audience. The young Hyderabadi lady Chetana Prem anchored the event.
Telugu Kala Kshetram, the oldest Telugu NRI organization in Riyadh, is committed to promote Telugu culture and working for welfare of Telugu brethren in Saudi Arabia capital, said its President Revel Anthony Abel.
