Hyderabad: Though light showers towards Wednesday evening came as a much needed reprieve from the summer heat, the mercury on Thursday again started to climb up.

According to the weather department, despite the brief spells of rains and thunderstorm, the temperature has been slowly rising across the State. This has resulted in an increase in humidity levels in the city.

Giving details about the situation, Dr K Nagaratna, Director, Indian Meteorological Department (IMD)-Hyderabad, said, “The southern part of Telangana will receive moderate to heavy rains in the coming days. Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning, gusty winds between 30 and 40 kmph, and hailstorms are very likely to occur at isolated places. However, Hyderabad’s temperature will be normal, and the city will receive light to moderate rains.”

She also added that the temperatures in the Northern and North-eastern part of the State will rise in the next few weeks, and a heatwave is likely during the coming time. At several locations in Telangana the temperature has again breached 40 degree Celsius.
