Hyderabad: Heated exchanges marked proceedings in the Telangana Assembly on Thursday as BRS MLA P Sabitha Indra Reddy and Minister D Seethakka clashed, briefly derailing the discussion on the budget demands.
The confrontation began when BRS MLA V Sunitha Lakshma Reddy raised the lack of drinking water supply in certain areas. Disrupting her speech, Seethakka accused the BRS women MLAs of making sweeping remarks on drinking water supply under the Congress government, while crores of rupees were wasted in the name of Mission Bhagiratha during the previous BRS rule.
She targeted Sabitha Indra Reddy, accusing her of betraying the Congress despite being given several opportunities by the party. She alleged that Sabitha’s shift to the BRS reflected political opportunism.
Raising strong objection, Sabitha Indra Reddy hit back sharply. She questioned Seethakka’s own Congress credentials, asking whether she was born and raised in the party, taking an indirect jibe at her previous association with Telugu Desam Party. She suggested the attack was aimed at gaining favour with Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy.
Further, the BRSLP deputy leader said that while Congress had once given her a ministerial role, it had also filed multiple CBI cases against her to target former Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy. She questioned whether she had no right to speak about issues in her constituency.
