Adilabad: Mild tension prevailed in Adilabad on Thursday when police detained BRS activists staging a sit-in at Jainath mandal centre, demanding action to prevent rainwater from entering their houses.
Residents, affected by waterlogging, said that rainwater had entered their homes, causing severe inconvenience. They blamed the flooding on the increased height of a road, which was recently raised as part of a road-widening project.
Families from the affected area staged a protest along with the BRS and laid siege to the road, urging officials to implement preventive measures. However, police foiled the protest by forcibly removing the protesters and detaining them in a police vehicle.
An argument broke out between the protesters and the police over the action. The aggrieved residents alleged they were being penalised for simply requesting a solution to their repeated hardships.
